Best Things to Eat and Drink When You Have a Cough

Coughing

Craving for something, but not sure if it’s okay for your cough?

Worry no more, as we present here some of the foods that you can safely and comfortably dine on when hit by that annoying cough.

“Let food be thy medicine”

Hippocrates, the Father of Western Medicine, said, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”Very aptly said, as there have been numerous studies supporting the idea that eating certain kinds of food can help a person get better.

When you come down with a cough, you are likely to feel uncomfortable while eating. You sometimes lose your appetite for the usual fare that you prefer, simply because the urge to cough is persistent. Along with this, you may also feel exhausted from losing sleep because of the continual coughing. To make things worse, some cough sufferers experience a sore throat as well, which makes swallowing harder.

However, having a cough does not mean you cannot eat. On the contrary, you should take very good care of your health so you can feel better soon. The key is to choose the right food or drink.

Cough Medication

Here is a list of food and beverages that can help you when you are down with a cough:

1. Fruits

There are certain fruits that are good for helping you with your cough.

For one, avocados are packed with fibre, vitamins and minerals. They also have high levels of monounsaturated fats, the kind of healthy fat found in olive oil. In addition, the oleic acid in avocados plays a role in immune function as well as help decrease inflammation. On a more practical sense, avocados are soft and easy to eat. They are also relatively bland so you need not to worry about strong flavours that may exacerbate your cough.

Apples are a good go-to snack when you have a cough. They are rich in flavonoids which have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-viral properties that can boost immune function and reduce the incidence of coughs.

Cranberries have flavonoids called proanthocyanidins. Power-packed with polyphenols, these richly coloured berries can significantly lower the risk of catching colds as well as support your immune system.

Pineapples are also good for your cough as they contain bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme that helps reduce inflammation and is said to be good in calming coughs and soothing a sore throat. Of course, pineapples are also a good source of Vitamin C!

2. Vegetables

Eat leafy, green vegetables like kale, romaine lettuce, and spinach when you have a cough. Aside from being packed with fibre, minerals and vitamins, these leafy green also have antibacterial properties. They are good sources of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and folate as well.

Look for dark green vegetables, too, as these contain beneficial plant compounds and antioxidants that protect cellular damage and fight inflammation.

You might also want to eat sweet potatoes. These sweet-tasting root vegetables are rich in Vitamin A that helps keep the mucosal membranes healthy.

3. Broths

Broths and soups are excellent helpers when it comes to hydration. Especially if made from scratch and packed with vegetables, broths and soups are flavorful and filling options when you have a cough.

Chicken soup is probably the most popular go-to soup when people are sick. This is because it is easy to eat and is a good source of vitamins and minerals that your body needs. Chicken contains N-acetyl-cysteine, an amino acid that helps loosen thick mucus. This protein also prevents neutrophil action or white blood cells that cause symptoms such as stuffy nose and coughing.

Hot broths also help as a natural decongestant as you inhale the hot steam while eating.

4. Teas

There are different kinds of teas that can help relieve your cough.

Garlic tea, mixed with a teaspoon of honey, is a good drink with antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.

Honey and pepper tea is also a good mix, especially when you have a wet cough. It helps reduce the production of mucus. Manuka honey, especially, has high levels of antibacterial elements. You can even have a teaspoon of it on its own and enjoy its antiseptic qualities while it coats and soothes your throat.

To help open up your airways and break down mucus, try drinking peppermint tea. For better results, you can also add honey and lemon.

Cough

5. Water

Last but definitely not the least, keep a glass of water near you at all times. Take frequent sips to reduce the irritation in your throat or gulp it down to hydrate yourself.

You can also gargle salt water for about 30 seconds to help reduce the inflammation in your throat. Salt has antiseptic qualities that will aid in relieving your cough. Do not drink the salt water, though, as it will dehydrate you. Spit after gargling and repeat multiple times a day, as needed.

Breathe Easy

These food and beverages are meant to help support your body when it is attacked by an irritating cough. You can also get relief by taking chest cough treatments that can provide cough relief by loosening the mucus, clearing it out from the airways, and preventing excess mucus from forming.

When coughing becomes worse and continues for over three weeks, it is best to go see your doctor.

Obesity to Eclipse Smoking as the Biggest Cause of Cancer by 2040

Obesity

There are many factors that have been linked to an increased risk of cancer over the years, including lack of physical activity, consuming too much sugar and processed foods, smoking, being overweight, drinking too much alcohol, and so on. As you can see, all of these can be prevented if the right action is taken.

Research published by UK scientists in September 2018 talks about the two leading preventable causes of cancer – smoking and obesity – and shows that obesity is likely to overtake smoking in the years to come. This isn’t to say you or anyone else should turn your entire lifestyle upside down, give up BBW dating, chocolate, a slice of pizza or a can of Coke, but caution is definitely warranted as evidenced by the figures below.

Obesity

What Awaits Over the Next 25 Years

Recent research suggests that obesity is set to overtake smoking as the biggest preventable cause of cancer in women in about 25 years. At the moment, 12 percent of cancers in women are linked to smoking in the UK, and 7 percent are linked to obesity or being overweight. The current trends suggest that the number of smokers is falling, while the number of women who have excess weight is rising.

If these trends continue, smoking and obesity could be equal culprits by 2035, and obesity is expected to take the no.1 spot when it comes to preventable causes of cancer in women by 2043.

When it comes to men, given that there are more male than female smokers, obesity is set to become the leading preventable cause of cancer in men at a later time. It should be noted that obesity is more prevalent in men as well, but it poses a greater health danger to women. Types of cancer linked to smoking include acute myeloid leukemia, lung, bladder, bowel, cervical, pancreatic, and stomach cancer.

Cancers associated with being overweight or obese include bowel, gallbladder, kidney, liver, breast, ovarian, and thyroid cancer.

Combating Obesity Head-On

Researchers believe that the same strategy that was employed to reduce the number of smokers should be used again to educate the public on the danger of carrying excess weight in order to reduce the number of people who qualify as overweight or obese. Children who are overweight are five times more likely to be overweight or obese as adults, and levels of childhood obesity are on the rise across the globe.

With this in mind, a good place to start the anti-obesity campaign similar to the anti-smoking campaign we’ve seen everywhere over the past several decades or so is definitely a family or the parents of young children who are at risk or are already packing more than a few extra pounds.

Measures to reduce obesity certainly includes raising awareness about the link between cancer and being overweight given that surveys suggest that only one in seven women realizes there is a link, as well as special measures that protect children. Those measures include a ban on junk food commercials on TV before 9 pm and a ban or restrictions on promotions and price reductions of unhealthy food aimed at children.

Granted, it took decades of severe campaigning to reduce the number of smokers, as well as a political action such as higher taxes on tobacco products, a ban or restriction of marketing tobacco products, and a ban on smoking indoors or in some cases even in public places. Needless to say, this battle is not over, but it’s a good example of what could be done to fight obesity.

Final Thoughts

Experts agree that obesity is definitely the health challenge of this generation and it requires bold action sooner rather than later. They call obesity ‘the new smoking’, and remind the public that it doesn’t just increase the risk of various types of cancer, but also put people at a higher risk of developing cardiovascular problems and type two diabetes.

Notwithstanding the fact that not everyone who smokes or is overweight will develop cancer, people put themselves in harm’s way when they could take action and prevent many health problems by choosing a different lifestyle. There are factors that are linked to cancer we can’t affect, such as age and genes, but those that can be tackled should be tackled head-on, not just on the individual level, but for the population as a whole as well.

How Keto Diets Became Mainstream

Keto Diet

It doesn’t matter whether you’re young and healthy or someone who is a member of the senior dating niche, you have to watch your diet if you wish to lead a healthy and fulfilling life. Nowadays, there are many popular meal plans and regimens that promise various health benefits. One of those diets that have become mainstream is the ketogenic diet. If you never heard of it, you’re probably wondering how this diet became so popular. Today, we’re going to answer that question, so make sure to stick around.

The History of the Diet

The ketogenic diet is basically a high-fat and a low-carbohydrate diet that is used primarily to treat epilepsy in children. It became popular back in the 1920s and 30s. With little carbohydrate in the diet, the human liver converts fat into fatty acids and ketone bodies. The ketone bodies then replace glucose as an energy source. A higher level of ketone bodies in the blood guarantees a state known as ketosis, which reduces the frequency of epileptic seizures.

Keto Diet

Its Potential to Cure Cancer Made it Popular

Discovering a cure for cancer is something doctors, scientists, and experts have been working on for many decades now, and some of them claim that the keto diet could play an important role in that process. Here’s how:

All cells require glucose (sugar) to sustain their life. However, when glucose is deprived, healthy cells in a human body start using ketones instead of sugar. Cancer cells, on the other hand, do not make this change because they only respond to glucose. This is why this low-carb diet might potentially starve the cancer cells. This is the main reason why keto diet is one of the most popular food regimens out there.

Other Amazing Benefits That Make This Diet so Popular

The fact that this particular diet could be rather beneficial when it comes to treating vicious diseases we mentioned above is wonderful news, but keto diet has many other health benefits you should know about. Here are some of the advantages that made this diet very popular among all generations of people.

It’s Good for Treating the Type 2 Diabetes

Like we mentioned earlier in the article, keto is a low-carb and low-sugar diet. It’s all about lean protein and fats. This is why keto diet is very popular with people with type 2 Diabetes. It’s great for controlling the sugar and insulin levels in a person’s blood.

It Lowers the Bad Cholesterol and Inflammation

Most people think that bad cholesterol has nothing to do with sugars. Well, they’re wrong. Eating too many carbs and sugar can cause your arteries to clog, which can be very dangerous and potentially fatal. Most experts claim that bad cholesterol level in the body reduces as the glucose level goes down. Also, this diet is good for all those people who suffer from painful skin inflammations and acne.

Low Carb

Weight Loss

A human body usually uses carbs and sugars as fuel during your training sessions. However, if you choose not to consume carbs and sugar, your body will be forced to use fat reserves to provide you with required energy. Therefore, you’ll be able to burn that extra fat in your body you’ve always wanted to get rid of. This is why ketogenic diet is so popular among athletes and people who are trying to lose some weight.

It Increases HDL (Good) Cholesterol

A lot of people don’t understand the difference between HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol). Good cholesterol carries the fats from peripheral parts of the body to the liver where it can be reused or eliminated. LDL carries cholesterol from the liver to the rest of the body, thus clogging your arteries creating all sorts of health problems. On a keto diet, the level of triglycerides in your body is reduced, while the HDL levels increase. This is why most people who are on this diet don’t suffer from cardiovascular diseases.

As with any other diets, there are pros and cons. The keto diet has many wonderful benefits and it can be one of the crucial factors when it comes to finding a cure for cancer. However, it can also be the wrong choice for you. This is why you have to consult your doctor before you decide to try this diet.

Is Liquid Diet Safe?

Liquid Diet

Whether you want to try your hand at biker dating and are looking for that perfect figure, have always wanted to run the marathon but can’t with those extra 15 or 20 pounds, or have genuine health concerns and weight loss is the way to regain your health, a liquid diet might be the right choice for you.

In liquid diets, most or all of your meals are replaced by drinks, and usually include vegetable and fruit juices or shakes taken three or four times a day. Sometimes these diets can be done at home, while in certain cases they require medical supervision. Some liquid diet plans include a liquid breakfast and lunch, while you eat a solid dinner and snack in between.

Below, we discuss the pros and cons of going on a liquid diet, offer a few tips on the right course of action, and propose several alternatives if you’re still not sure about how to proceed.

Liquid Diet

Can You Lose Weight on a Liquid Diet?

Absolutely! Any diet that involves consuming fewer calories than you use will result in weight loss. On the other hand, long-lasting results with a liquid diet are questionable because when you drastically reduce your calorie intake, your metabolism slows down to save energy, so unless you change the way you eat it’s likely you’ll regain the lost weight once you go off the diet.

Are You Putting Your Health At Risk?

If a liquid diet contains enough calories to ensure a balance of essential nutrients throughout the day, then it’s not harmful to your health provided you don’t have any chronic conditions. Those essential nutrients include protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals. However, in many cases, a liquid diet lacks some of these nutrients because it’s very low in calories (400-800 calories), and should be conducted under medical supervision.

If you’re not sure whether your liquid diet fulfills all the dietary requirements, check with your doctor or look for signs of insufficiency of certain nutrients, such as fatigue, dizziness or hair loss. Also, if your diet lacks fibre from not eating whole grains it can lead to constipation.

Medical professionals often recommend liquid diets before certain procedures or to people who are obese and need to get to a safer weight before any other steps are taken.

How Can You Safely Go On a Liquid Diet?

First of all, talk to your doctor to see if a liquid diet is a right choice for you. Women who are pregnant or nursing, people with chronic illnesses or those who suffer from diabetes and take insulin should not go on a liquid diet. Second of all, if your doctor says you’d be a good candidate to lose weight this way, talk to a dietitian to make sure you get enough calories on a daily basis. A dietitian might recommend that you take vitamins or nutritional supplements if you go on a liquid diet.

How to Choose a Diet Plan

A liquid diet comes down to two simple choices – you either make the drinks yourself or go for a commercial diet. If you opt for the latter, read the label carefully to see the nutritional value of the drinks and remember that commercial products contain an unnecessary amount of sugar in many cases. Also, another option is to pick a diet that is not so low in calories and allows you to have a meal or two per day.

This way you’ll lose weight gradually, and develop healthier eating habits which can help you keep the excess weight off once you stop dieting.

Juice

A Potential Alternative

If a full-blown liquid diet is too much for you at the moment, luckily there are viable alternatives that might do the trick. For instance, you can go on a short-term detox diet using cleansers, such as juices or drinks made from herbs that are aimed at removing the toxins from your body. You can try long-term water fasting by picking one day a week when you’d only drink water, and lots of it, for 24 hours.

These are not your typical diets but might prove effective if you’re not so eager to exclude solid foods from the table.

Sleeping With Socks On – Yay or Nay?

Wool Socks

It doesn’t matter if you’re a teenage girl, young man, or a hot woman from the cougar dating trend, you probably get cold feet every once in a while. Now, we don’t mean this metaphorically; we literally mean that your feet get cold every now and then. This might be because of your bad circulation or the low temperature in your apartment, but one thing’s for sure – nobody likes this feeling, especially when it’s time for bed.

This is why millions of people around the world choose to sleep with their socks on. So, the question begs to be asked – is sleeping with socks on good or bad? Let’s find out.

Wearing Socks in Bed can Prevent the So-Called Raynaud’s Attack

One of the biggest benefits of sleeping with your socks on is preventing the Raynaud’s Attack. For those who are not familiar with the term, Raynaud’s Attack is a common condition that occurs when blood vessels in the extremities narrow, thus limiting blood circulation in said areas. That’s why your fingers, toes, and nose feels numb and cold in cold temperatures and during stressful periods. Keeping your socks on during night will provide you with better circulation in your feet, which will eventually result in better and calmer sleep.

Sleeping with socks

Some Types of Socks can Cause Certain Skin Conditions

One of the rare drawbacks of wearing socks while sleeping is the fact that it can negatively affect your skin in some cases. Wearing the wrong type of socks (anything but cotton) can cause various dermatological inconveniences. Considering the fact that people’s feet tend to sweat during the night, wearing unpleasant materials that don’t allow your feet to breathe can cause serious problems like infections (fungus, mycosis) and unpleasant odours. However, all of this can be avoided if you put on clean cotton socks every night.

It Prevents Hot Flashes and Sudden Temperature Changes in Your Body

As you probably know by now, your sleep can sometimes be affected by sudden temperature changes in your body. This is perfectly normal, especially if you’re nervous about something. Nevertheless, it can be rather annoying. These temperature changes or hot flashes, if you will, are often caused by cold feet. This is why it’s good for you to wear socks in bed because the warmth contained by the socks helps your body thermoregulate during your sleep, keeping night sweats and unpleasant hot flashes at bay.

Sleeping with socks

Keeping Your Socks on Can also Help your Skin

Earlier in the article, we said that the wrong type of socks can cause certain infections, and we stand by it. However, we also have to state that wearing socks in bed can preserve the natural moisture of your feet during the cold and dry winter. This is good because it reduces the risk of having those nasty and painful cracks caused by dry air and cold.

Final Verdict

We’ve listed some of the most common benefits and drawbacks of wearing socks in the bed above, but now it’s time to reach the final verdict and close this case once and for all. Keeping your socks on during bedtime is officially good for you, as long as you wear a pair of clean cotton socks.

Are Scented Candles Toxic and is There a Healthier Alternative?

Scented Candles

You’ve started to date a cowboy, and are preparing a romantic candle-light dinner? You love to decorate your home with all sorts of knick-knacks, and no home design is complete without a few candles here and there? Well, before you light your candles up again, think about what you’re actually burning and breathing in inside your own home! Most store-bought candles, scented or otherwise, are made of toxic materials and chemicals, and simply should not be used. Period.

This doesn’t mean you have to give up your love of candles, but merely consider a healthier alternative for the reasons presented below.

Health Concerns Related to Scented Candles

Most store-bought scented candles are a great source of indoor air pollution and release chemicals that are just as unhealthy as second-hand smoke. The substance that is used to make scented candles is called paraffin wax, and paraffin is a petroleum waste product that is further processed to be made into the wax. It pretty much comes down to paraffin candles being as toxic as diesel fuel fumes. When burned, the wax releases highly toxic benzene and toluene, and both are known carcinogens.

Scented Candles

Another problem with scented candles is the wicks that often contain lead, which has no business being burned in anyone’s house. According to the US regulations, wicks must be made of cotton or paper, but research has found that as many as 30% of candles contain heavy metals in the wicks. As icing on the cake, most mass-produced candles contain artificial scents and dyes, which create additional chemicals when burned.

Toxic chemicals that may be present in the paraffin wax and released when candles are burning include Acetone, Trichlorofluoromethane, Carbon Disulfide, 2-Butanone, Trichloroethane, Trichloroethene, Carbon Tetrachloride, Tetrachloroethene, Chlorobenzene, Ethylbenzene, Styrene, Xylene, Phenol, Cresol, Cyclopentene. These are the toxins that are found in paint, lacquer, and varnish removers, and shouldn’t be anywhere near your house or kids unless you’re painting (every few years).

Scented Candle

Safe Alternatives

One wide-spread alternative to scented mass-produced candles are soy-based candles, and despite the fact that there is no denying soy-based candles are healthier than paraffin-based candles, the trouble with soy is that it’s genetically modified, and lots of people stay away from it. Luckily, there is this one material used to make scented candles for all us girls to decorate our homes with and burn on special occasions that are found in nature and turned into candles without much processing at all, and that is beeswax! Beeswax candles are not only safe but are proven to help clean indoor air when burned!

Beeswax candles are not purely used for home décor. They can be burned during power outages for up to 9 hours, and are even found at kids’ birthday parties as birthday candles as a much healthier alternative to regular candles. If you’re further concerned about the quality of your indoor air, salt lamps and indoor plants can help detox it, and if you need to use candles, stick to beeswax to be on the safe side.

They can make eating, speaking difficult and this is how quality can go out of your life.

A cosmetic dentist can help in many ways, including –

  • Fix dental flaws of any nature

They needn’t worry as a cosmetic dentist is there to restore the smile and make them feel confident. In fact, natural-looking tooth restorations are there for replacing one or more of missing teeth and let people get a perfect smile. Based on the severity of the problem, the dentist can use implant, crown, bridge or denture to fill gaps in smile in a pain-free and smooth manner.

2. Teeth Whitening

A smile can also get affected when the teeth are not as bright and white as they should be. Cases are many where stained or discolored teeth take away the natural lustre of the smile and leave one looking bad. A cosmetic dentist is can help in such situations by using professional tooth whitening to restore the desired whiteness and brightness of your teeth. based on the severity of the issue, the dentist can recommend one of in-office or at-home whitening systems to let you have a stain-free smile.\

3. Teeth Reshaping

A gorgeous smile is not possible unless your teeth are in perfect shape. Your teeth can wear down, become pointy or go out of shape due to regular tear & wear. If any of these issues bothers you, it’s time to consult a cosmetic dentist and seek treatment. Teeth reshaping is possible where the dentist can use some dentistry procedures to fix the issue and restore the charms of your smile. In most cases, porcelain veneers are used as they get shaped accordingly to fit your tooth shape easily.

4. Damaged Teeth Restoration

Cracks, chips or discoloration are common to teeth. They are the result of continued wear & tear your pearly whites have to go through over the years. Naturally, they fall under the category of damaged teeth with the potential to dilute the beauty of your smile. However, veneers and bonding are used as one of several cosmetic procedures to hide away such damages and lend you a desired smile. More so, a dental crown may be used to fix teeth that are broken or badly decayed.

5. Teeth Straightening

Your teeth can become crooked or they can get misaligned due to various reasons. And when that happens, the smile will be a casualty. Such teeth are not only bad from aesthetic point of view but can also weaken dental prowess in a big way. That’s why you need them straightened using metal braces or aligners, as cosmetic dentists often rely on these techniques to straighten teeth. Plastic aligners are in use a lot as they help teeth get back into their right shape and space in stages.

6. Change Teeth Length

It’s possible to change teeth length and enhance the beauty of your smile. There is no problem even if you have small teeth as a cosmetic dentist can help change the shape. To do the same, dental veneers are bonded to the tooth surface to change is length and shape accordingly. The good thing, a cosmetic dental clinic will let you decide the size, colour and shape of the veneers to fetch you a perfect smile. This is how you feel good about yourself and you start spreading the magic of your smile.

Workout on Beach

Regardless of whether you’re looking for a way to get into shape before you go on vacation and hit the beach or you want to look perfect for your profile photo on that cougar dating site, going to the gym or simply working out at your home is something you have to do regularly if you want to look your best.

However, getting rid of a lot of weight quickly isn’t an easy feat, even if you’re on some kind of diet. In that name, here are three 15-minute workouts that will help you torch major calories in no time.

Training

HIIT

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) has been around for about a decade now and is something many athletes and professional trainers swear by. Even some bodybuilders can confirm that this type of training is among the best.

All in all, nobody can deny the effectiveness and results but also the brutality and demanding nature of the HIIT workout. Namely, this type of training can be so excruciating yet so rewarding at the same time that there’s basically nothing that can come close to it.

The whole point of this approach is to do exercises in quick succession, as fast as possible and be as explosive about it as you can. While doing this, you are putting your body to the ultimate test of strength, precision and endurance which will ultimately result in building stamina and muscle while burning away a lot of fat.

Pull Up Training

Pull-Up ‘till You Drop Down

If you’re looking for a simple exercise that will set your muscles on fire, you can find it in the form of an endless pull-up. A workout based around this exercise can be the perfect tool not only for seriously building your upper body muscles but also for burning immense amounts of calories.

So, how does the 15-minute workout where the pull-up is the focal point look like exactly? Well, you simply need to do one set of as many reps as you can possibly withstand before the pain and the burn overwhelm you.

Here’s a starter variation: do as many pull-ups as you can for 120 seconds, rest for 30, then repeat the cycle until the pain becomes unbearable. It will hurt, but it will be totally worth it in the end!

Defeated by the Dumbbell

For all of you out there who are ready to experience the ultimate torture and shred a considerable number of pounds in the process, we’ve got the perfect workout for you – all you need is a pair of fairly heavy dumbbells and enough willpower and stamina to put yourself through a series of brutal exercises.

Start with a couple of sets of renegade rows, which are done by going from shoulder press to squat to an explosive jump. Then, add pushups to the movement for even more sets, and finally, do a dumbbell raise until your arms collapse from all the pain and suffering. This workout engages most muscles in your body, but your shoulders and arms will definitely feel the most of it.

Top 3 Butt-Sculpting Exercises You Should Try

Out of all the body parts, one can build in a gym or by doing exercises at home is by far the gluteus. Your behind actually does a lot more than just existing, even though a lot of people are not aware of the purpose of these muscles. So, whether you want to get your beach body on or to look as sexy as possible for your cougar dating site profile photo, your butt is one of those things that will be the hardest to shape.

However, there are certain exercises that can help you increase the strength and size of your glutes so that you can have a divine butt. With that being said, here are the top 3 butt-sculpting moves that you definitely need to try.

  1. The Squat

Naturally, the very first exercise we need to talk about here would be the squat. Squatting is a staple for any weight loss workout, but it especially works towards building better and stronger glutes. As a plus, you’ll also strengthen your leg and abdominal muscles with this exercise, which is never a bad thing, right?

Here’s how to do the squat:
  • Stand straight up with your feet at shoulder width and your chest sticking out
  • Bend your hips, stick your butt out and lower it until your knees are below a 90° angle
  • Push upwards with your heels until your legs are straight again, but don’t lock in your knees

There are many variations to the squat, one of which incorporates a barbell. This, however, is only for those who already have a pretty strong core, so don’t try it if you’re still a beginner.

  1. Lunges

The lunge is a favourite exercise among aerobic fans due to its simplicity and guaranteed results. If ever there was a butt-sculpting move that you can do anywhere and at any time, it has to be the lunge.

Here are the steps:
  • Stand straight up while positioning your feet at hip width
  • Extend one leg forward, bend the knee of that leg and lower yourself down while keeping your torso straight
  • Clutch your glute muscles to bring yourself back into the starting position, then switch legs

Deadlift Weight Lifting

  1. The Deadlift

Despite the fact that this is one serious move that we mostly link to bodybuilders and really strong guys in general, the deadlift is one of the best exercises for building a better butt when done properly – and the best part is that anyone can do it!

Just follow these steps:

  • Load a barbell with a decent amount of weight. You’re not exercising for strength or upper body muscles here so don’t overload it – anywhere from 10 to 40 kg will do
  • While standing up, keep your feet at shoulder width and the bar in front of your hip area
  • Bend your knees slightly and arch your back until the bar is as close to the ground as you can go
  • Engage your butt and bring yourself back into the initial position, then repeat
